Grief and Loss Group

Grief & Loss Group

  • Are you feeling overwhelmed or isolated in your grieving process?

  • Do you wish you had more coping skills to get you through each day?

  • Would you like the support of others going through a similar process

You do not have to face your pain alone.

When facing any loss, we are often left feeling isolated and without adequate support. Grieving the loss of a loved one is a natural human event, a rite of passage. Each of us deserves support, the space to sort through these challenges, and tools to help us cope.

Healing happens collectively.

Join me for this 8-week remote group in which we will share our struggles with loss in a small community. Being with others who are also grieving helps us feel less alone and allows us to move through our grief feeling validated, held, and understood.

Sessions

Each session will include a short period of meditation, individual responses to prompts, dyads and group discussion. There will also be opportunities for artistic expression and release (in your chosen form), somatic practices, and ways to metabolize trauma. Weekly readings will be offered to support you in between sessions.

Remote via Zoom: 8 sessions

Cost: $320 (Sliding Scale Available)

Dates: Wednesdays, 9/27 - 11/15

Time: 6:45 - 8pm

Women's Support Group

Women’s Support Group

  • What does it mean to embody the identity of a woman in today’s world?

  • What pressures and challenges do you feel as a woman?

  • What kind of support can you imagine giving to and receiving from other women?

What it means to embody the identity of a woman is deeply personal and constantly changing. The pressures and challenges in today’s world can be disorienting and scary. We can feel isolated and confused. In this group, we will come together to explore the personal and collective issues that are present in our lives. We will offer and receive support in a small community of others going through similar challenges. We need each other, now more than ever!

Please join me in this special group that will include moments of connection, grounding, artistic expression, and more.

We will meet remotely for 8 weeks. Please commit to attending all 8 sessions (though it is understood that things happen and you might need to skip a session at some point).

Remote via Zoom: 8 remote sessions

Cost: $320 (Sliding Scale available if the fee presents a financial burden.)

Dates: Mondays, 9/25 - 11/13

Time: 7-8:15pm

You do not have to face your pain alone.

Group Therapy ~ Grief and Loss

You do not have to face your pain alone.

When facing the loss of a loved one, we are often left feeling isolated and without adequate support. Our friends and family may not know how to talk to or be there for us, and it is during our grieving process when we most need support from others. Grieving the loss of a loved one is a natural human event, a rite of passage. Each of us deserves support, as well as the space to sort through these challenges, and tools to help us cope.

Healing happens collectively.

You Are Not the Soup: A Yoga and Zen Workshop for Meeting Your Food and Your Body with Equanimity. Hosted by: Kristin Miscall, LCSW, RYT & Anastasia Nevin, MS, RDN, RYT

“You are not the soup” is a traditional Zen teaching that reminds us that what we create in the kitchen is neither good’ nor ‘bad.’ It is simply an outcome of mindful effort.  So, too, is the practice on our yoga mats. In this workshop, we will explore this notion of effort-as-path on our mats and our plates as we look into the practice of meeting our bodies just as they are as well as watching sensing, and experiencing our relationship to the food we prepare for our nourishment and enjoyment.

The workshop will include:

  • A slow, deep yoga flow tuning us into our bodily sensations while allowing all feelings and thoughts that arise to be just as they are
  • A collaborative meal cooked and shared together in the beautiful, serene  kitchen at Brooklyn Zen Center
  • Discussion and exploration around avenues of acceptance with food and our bodies
